CCCS Question

Options
For those dealing with CCCS how important is it to update your balances with them?

I only ask this because I was curious to know how CCCS know when someone has been completely paid off

I would keep them informed surely once an item is paid off the spare money can go to paying off the other quicker.

    hi im with cccs,
you can go online and email them or amend the details online if you go to homepage then register to use online takes seconds i think,
failing that there will be a number for you to ring on there.
i would let them know as they will continue to send payments out and those honest creditors would be so readily to hand that cash back right???????

Sorry for been thick but i dont understand why the cccs wouldnt know your correct balance anyway? I was under the impression that all creditors (when with the cccs) have to be treated the same so if you have extra money available it should be shared between them and not paid onto one debt to try and clear it.

The time that elapses between not making the minimum payments, creditors accepting offers and the DMP finally being established will mean that unless you have kept CCCS abreast of the statements that have been printed in the meantime will inevitably mean a difference in the amount that CCCS think you still owe and the amount you actually do. Suppose it affects your debt free date and I guess that is the only reason.

It's your responsibilty to keep the CCCS up to date with your balances. They will ask for your balances when you start your DMP and will work with these. If the balances are incorrect you will end up not having paid enough, or having paid too much. You need to keep in contact with your creditors (difficult with some - Cahoot haven't repsonded to me in over a year) to make sure your balance info is correct. Some carry on sending statements, which is useful, but others don't.
