Is it classed as a non essential debt? It's for over payment of Tax Credits.

It isn't a priority debt. Are you contemplating bankruptcy?

Have you spoken to any of the debt charities like CAB, National Debtline or CCCS? Give one, or all, of them a ring and in the meantime have a look at the Guide to Bankruptcy sticky on the front page of this forum. If you have any questions be sure to ask.

hi epkk, there are specific rules relating to benefit overpayments, the important questions are, what period were you overpaid for, when did they ask for the money back (if they formerly have), How did they ask for the money back (lumpsum, regular payments or deduction from ongoing benefit) and finally how did the overpayment arise (i.e could an allegation of fraud be made)
Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.

I've been in touch with NDL and Im going to call CCCS on Monday. My main worry is with being unemployed that I can't find the money for the admin fees. I know thete some charities etc out there but it's tricky finding one that will help me out to cover admin fees.

No, not really. I got a Wii but the kids use it a lot and I know they'll be upset to see it go.

Some things you consider junk will sell. How about books, toys/clothes your kids have outgrown?

There are also some charities who you could get money from ( I don't know who but someone will come along ).

What are the job prospects looking like?

My kids don't live with me apart from my son but will look to see what I can sell, tough won't be much.
As for job prospects, not good. Im having to go to Night School and other courses to learn something new to improve my prospects.
