Sainsburys Contract Issue

I Work for my local Sainsburys store and back in Febuary the store was made 50% bigger. I was then only contracted to work 13hrs but i was always working the full 39hrs. So with the need for more staff, in april my bakery manager at the time came up to me and told me i was getting a 39hr a week contract. I signed It he signed it and all seemed fine.
The trouble started when i came back from a 2 week holiday and i realised i hadnt been paid for it. I confronted a member of Human Resources and they said they had never seen a full time contract but she would tell The HR Manager when she returned from holiday. She came back but i heard nothing so i spoke to her myself and she seemed very defensive about it, telling me she didnt have 39hrs to give and totally ignored me trying to tell her i had signed one. She then spoke to my bakery manager and he told her i was given a contract. She then said it would be more than likely i would get my holiday pay and would be given a full time contract. She then left the store and i have yet to see either.
My Bakery team leader hated me (dont ask me why) she wanted to cut down my hours to my original 13. More people were employed and i was told to only do my 13hrs and go home. I put my foot down and continued to come in. Then someone was sacked on another department so i was moved onto their and continued to do 39hrs. But according to the new HR Manager (indirectly) there is not 39hrs available and i am more likely to get around 25. I am of course fuming because i want my holiday pay which now adds to 4 weeks and i want my full time hours which i signed for.
I have been recommended to take out a grievance.
Any thoughts?

So were has this 39 hour contract gone? weres your copy?
A few comments you were told to go home at 13 hours and didnt? Why on earth?
Also Its very unheard of for supermarkets to give 39 hour contracts. they favour part time contracts with lots of overtime.0 -
I didnt go home becasuse i need he money, and the duty manager understood my situation.
The 39 hr was lost by either the bakery manger or HR. I have no copy.0 -

so you didnt get a copy, thats a bit odd as when you get offered a contract with more hours the manager or HR will have 2 copies and 1 is what you keep and the other is signed by you and given to HR or whoever0 -

Christ it sounds like you have just solved the unemployment crisis.
Not got a job or the hours? Just go and work there anyway.
As for the rest well everyone else is denying it and you have no proof so your pretty ballsed.0 -
There is also the 'custom and practice' argument - the OP has been working 39 hours since February and (presumably) none of this was marked down as overtime (although I realise I don't know how Sainsbury's staff record their hours - maybe overtime isn't shown on payslip just number of hours worked?)
I think a grievance is the way to go, if you're in a union ask them for help, if you're not then join now and contact ACAS on Monday.
Also were you paid NOTHING for your holiday? Because you should have been paid what they thought were your regular hours, or worked it out on what you'd actually worked in the previous 12 (? - or it is 17 or some other random number? ACAS will know!)
When did you start working there and when was your holiday, that may make a (minor) difference to the above.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I can confirm that on a sainsburys payslip the overtime hours is listed as overtime and then the hours worked0
