DCA...is this a new tactic [or..tictac?}

I've been gloriously BR since MAY....

Over the past two weeks I have recieved a couple of letters from a DCA..[West something-or-other??].....not actually addressed to me, but with MY address.

First was the usual threatening letter..of which I have seen so many in the past...[hot-air letters]

Second was a 'statement'.....

Both were 'unsealed'....I looked inside [out of curiosity]...but am aware of laws regarding the 'opening' of other's mail...even if wrongly addressed.

Now...it is the second [statement] letter I find of interest.

In it, the person whose name is on the statement is supposed to have gained credit for something....and the [first?] two payments have not been made.

The interesting thing about the letter is...that the DCA have actually PRESUMED I would 'open' the letter, as it is, without using my name, worded directly at ME!

They demand that I ring them to tell them where the person named now lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They 'claim' that my address is the 'last known address' for the debtor!

However, the statement only has two entries on it...one for this month, and one for late last year.

Now, as I see it, any DCA will know who and where any BR's live...especially if the BR's themselves have crossed the DCA's books in the past.

Electoral roles will also confirm BR's addresses.

I have lived here for 18 months now.....and have knowledge of the previous two tenant's names...[but not current addresses].

The individual's name on the DCA's letters is neither of these.

So....in your collective opinions, has my address been used by someone to gain credit fraudulantly?

Or..is it another DCA wile to try to say I am actually the person concerned, [having falsified a name]....and to try to pressure ME to settle the amount owed [about two lots of £80..not a lot....but if I weakened and coughed up when demanded, that amount would settle their admin costs, lost pursuing me pre-BR??]

They do threaten a personal visit....which I wholeheartedly welcome, as it will have added additional costs to their admin bill to do so....:D
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

I would be very tempted to "seal" them, write "not known at this address, return to sender" on them, and sling them back in the post box.
