Hi Kevicho,
I have been thinking about doing this but don't feel like I have made much progress:
Income:
1,760 per month (after tax) now: 2,258 (got myself a promotion!)
Deductions:
80 Travel
90 Student Loan now 165 as pay has increased
18 AVC now 24.05 as pay has increased
Total deductions: 188 now 269.05
Outgoings:
Essentials:
518 Mortgage now 620, I struggle to save money so I thought an overpayment would be better
87 Council tax now 77
50 Maintenence for flat
50 electricity now 25, was paying too much
9 Contents insurance same but will renew in July
25 TV Licence now 10.46
32 Water now 26.50
5 Ground rent
100 Food and household items eg cleaning stuff (for just me) now 70, and that is plenty thanks to OS board
100 Credit card payment (min payment is usually £50 but I am trying to pay it off) now £50, transfering onto 0% and saving 200
Total for essentials: 976 now 942.96
Non essentials:
30 PetrolI budget for this but rarely need it all
7.50 Time out subscription
50 For lunches and collections at work etc now 20 maximum
40 Oyster card for tubes and buses (trying to curb the taxi habit!)40 still but am going to buy an annual travelcard when train ticket runs out to save £5 per month
Total for non essentials: 127.50 now 97.50
So, I now have about £950 left over, I pay myself £550 (which is a lot I know but there is no point being too strict with myself as I won't stick to a tighter budget) and save £400, this is towards paying my credit card off, annual bills for my car, Christmas, birthdays and holidays. I am also planning on taking a course part time which is going to cost me £320 per month, again a lot I know but it is something I really want to do (and will aid my career, I have gone as far as I can go now). Once I start the course "my" money will go down to £350 as I will need to stay home more to study. I do still have areas to cut down on but will see how I go for now. Any feedback will be appreciated, I will be back here tomorrow am!
Thanks, Immy

I hate work collections, its such an unfair position to be put in (and it happens too much)

With regards the training, in the long run it is something you will get a lot out of.
If you find treating yourself hard to give up (and you shouldnt totally) then cut it back gradually, i know i cant talk as ive blown extra money on myself this month, but i did win some money so i split the winnings.
I think you have made a good start, the first weeks are the hardest, but once you start seeing the results it becomes easier and it goes from being a negative aspect to a positive aspect of your life pretty quickly
And then if you are like me it then turns you into a megalomaniac hell bent on world domination
