Well done to him, however how did he manage to put a 50% deposit on a house in his early 20’s earning just £1200 a month!? Unless the house cost penny’s he must surely have another source of income? Although I am from the south and the minimum a 2 bedroom will cost is £150,000

blimey thats good going isn't it! didn't you always want to kick those people that harped on about 'if only i knew then what i know now' which was always accompanied by 'school days are the best days of your life'.

I knew I was officially an adult when I was giving my Boyfriends 'baby' sister some career advice and the words just sprang from my lips as if I didnt have control over my mouth!

I wondered the same criz but he showed me his statements when he came to stay with me because I was very suspicious. However I could see that he had been seriously saving money since he was 15. He would regularly save nearly £1000 per month putting the money into ISA's and his savings account, (our parents never took any money off him for food and board) when he came to stay with us he had only just bought a payg mobile and did not own a tv or anything else like that. He bought a 2 bed house in 2002 for around £70k (can't remember the exact amount), this is a cheaper area of the country though and he put down a £40k deposit.

It sounds like he's a real skinflint but he's not, he is incredibley generous to his nieces and nephews. He insisted on paying a decent amount of money for food and board when he stayed with us. I think he is just very careful with his money and really worries about it and he just doesn't buy into the whole 'must have' and 'buy it now' culture. Other than that he is a pretty normal 20something, he loves football and going out for a beer with his mates.

I think its wonderful that someone so young has had his head screwed on enough to know how important his finances are. Mind you, he has been incredibly fortunate that he didnt have to pay rent and food for all those years, it did give him the oportunity to save, that a lot of people dont have. So a big well done to him!!!!
