Hi everyone I try my very hardest to live the MSE way and do my weekly fruit and veg shop at the local market each saturday morning, spending about £8 a week. I am very busy as I have a household to run, work part time, am at university doing a full time Law degree and I have a 16 month old son aswell.
I try and feed him healthily and I go to weightwatchers as well so obviously eat healthily but as I dont have much time I love the slow cooker, except my son does not like stews or casseroles or soups and I was wondering if anyone could advise some suitable recipes? I have looked through the slow cooker thread but cant really find anything I think he would like! please help! Mary

Have you tried making baked beans in the slow cooker? You could add some sausages and add some small, chopped up veg such as peppers - as he gets used to this then add some mushrooms and then tomatoes......building up the veg and dropping the amount of beans so it is a tomato sauce based stew. Hopfully if he got used to this he may be prepared to try other kinds of stew?
Mac / cauli cheese? Sorry, no help with much in the way of meat based meals as I've been a veggie for 25 odd years!
What kind of foods does your son usually enjoy?0 -
I have the book 'the slow cooker recipe book' (original title there lol) by Catherine Atkinson, there are loads of recipes in there but some oly use the slow cooker for a few hours rather than all day - ie while at work/college. It might be worth getting it from the library to check out some tho.
Most meats can me gently cooked in the slow cooker as a roast or you could make simple pies etc that just need topping with pastry & 25 mins in the oven....
Is it just the 'gravy' side he's not keen on cos there are quite a few dishes that can end up quite dry like rissotto or pasta type dishes..I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0
