Mortgage Offer - credit card outstanding

Hi,
Long time lurker here and finally got around to finding a house!
I have had an offer accepted of 170K for a house and have got a 42.5k deposit. My mortgage is with Natwest and today got a phone call to say that I had been offered the mortgage and they will be sending out paperwork to myself and solicitor today with the offer. My question is, at the moment I have 3600 outstanding on a 0% credit card (i have this money in an isa at the moment and it is on top of my house deposit). Anyway, i said i would pay this off to the mortgage company before the mortgage, but is there anything from stopping me from not paying it off untill the 0% offer ends in july next year?
I know its a bit sneaky, but will the mortgage company find out if i dont?
Thanks

What will you earn in interest over the next 9 months from £3600 in an ISA paying what 3/4/5% maybe £80/90 at most.
If you said you will clear the credir card then do it!0 -
It depends on the conditions stated in the mortgage offer.
If it states that the debt must be cleared then the solicitor (and your honest self) has a duty to ensure that this happens.
If your solicitor asks for proof that the debt has been cleared and you cannot provide this he/she shouldn't allow completion of the mortgage.0 -
Hi,
Yes i appreciate it may only be £90, but it will give me an extra £90 for doing nothing, or if i need some spare cash, i can do bits on the house without having to get a loan etc...
So will the mortgage company be able to find out? i.e. can they search to see what my debts are?or contact the credit card company?
