scared old style!

:oi'm in all on my lonesome today (off work sick) and have been getting really scared wondering what the banging noise I was hearing!

Finally got brave and went in the kitchen and guess what it was....

MY BREADMAKER!!! :o

Well, I'm not usually in when it's mixing the dough! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I did exactly the same the first time I used mine - I was out in the garden and thought someone was trying to break in through the kitchen window. :o

I hope you've recovered from the shock now!
Back after a very long break!

LOL I have a small, battery-operated ice-cream maker, that when in use, sits in the bottom drawer of the freezer.

The first time I used it, I spent all afternoon wondering what the heck the intermittent whirring noise was; I must have gone round the bungalow about 3 times before I finally worked it out!:D

  • Haha I was staying at my dads house and he put the breadmaker on timer so we'd have fresh bread in the morning. At 5am I was woken by intermittent banging and clanking, the breadmaker was awake and doing its thing and I was in the room directly above. Never realised they were so loud!

I have the same breadmaker now and when guests come to stay it moves to the living room as spare room is above the kitchen :D

I find the breakmaker noise strangely comforting, maybe just knowing that it's busy making fresh bread - it's nice hearing it going through the different cycles, and then the smell when it starts cooking it...mmmm

The best is either waking up when the bread has just cooked, or coming into the house to smell the fresh bread (often put bread on then go 2 the pub lol). The delicious smell goes right through the house, there's nothing else quite like it. This has turned into quite a long post but I love my breadmaker, best purchase ever, and could quite happily sing its praises for as long as people will listen!

    Haha!
Once I heard a banging noise and it was my mobile phone in the washing machine. That was NOT a money-saving banging noise.

I was sat in my office one night when I heard a cow mooing! I checked and the tv was off, so I carried on wandering round MSE site and heard it again. It took me a couple of weeks to work out that my new fridge freezer was making the noise - its next to the office door!! Pity would have been good if a stray cow had wandered in the garden.

not old style at all but i woke to noises of a baby crying this morning ( i have no kids)

It was the cat sitting on the window sill, talking to the birdies. Funniest noise i ever heard! Not usual bird mimmicking, this was on a totally new level:rotfl:

That is wierd because today I made pizza dough and heard mine banging in the kitchen. When it had finished it had moved quite a lot sideways and it has never done that before

Ah you've not experienced the joys of your cat calling you at 3 a.m. from the bottom of the stairs to come and see what little furry present he's brought you. Its an eerie noise at that time I can assure you.

Keeping on topic, my washing machine is apt to give a thud just before it starts spinning, which puts me off putting it on overnight.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.
