My Christmas problem

Hi everyone!
I have a Christmas problem! Maybe you could help?
I have developed a serious knee complaint over the last few months (which I tried to ignore!) but now I am stuck at home, 'on the sick'. I'm having an operation in early november but they don't know how long I will need to recover Or if it will actually work.
My problem is Christmas-How do I get my presents? I have looked at a few at a few websites but I'm lost. I haven't got masses of money and not too many people to buy for but I hate paying for delivery when I think of how easy it should be to pop to the shops and pick these things up!
Any tips? Any great websites?
MSE has helped me lots in the past and I'm hoping someone will wave a magic wand.
Thanks for any help given.

The great thing about online shopping is you can often get voucher codes for money off, use quidco for money off, get free delivery when you spend over s certain value & also a lot of things cost less.
Use your time to look for the best value & you should be able to get some things for a good price (incl delivery charges)

Lots of sites offer free delivery I know amazon just has on christmas presents. I do most of shopping online you have to make it worth it. So find a shop where you are getting few items or heavy so that your not paying over the top.
Time you take into account driving to shops and parking charges there is only like pound or so in it. I find helpful to get the catuloges to look at if you are not sure of what you want as you cant search for what you dont know.
Do you have any friends or family who would pick things up? If you decide what shops you want could split it between a few people. I also pick up odd things on food shopping delivery so it dosnt make any difference.
OR you could borrow a wheelchair or join up at local shopmobility scheme - you can be member for short of long term problem. There is usaully a charge but at least you can spot bargins in shops. Good luck!0 -
Amazon.co.uk play.com and HMV.com all do free delivery with no minimum spend, great for novelty gifts books cds dvds etc:jThe Money Saving Wannabe :j

Good idea about the wheelchair! My local town has special Christmas evening shopping for wheelchairs where it is a bit quieter.
What about the Boots "3 for 2"? You can order online and I think, Free Pick up in store. A lot of stores are doing this now. The only problem is getting someone to pick up for you. Also, they might not arrive at the store at the same time.
Could you get all the men "the same" and all wmen the same etc and make your shopping list easier.
There is always Argos.
I would get all the xmas store catalogues and sit down with a cuppa, wade through them and make this Christmas as easy as possible even if it means boring run of the mill "sock" type pressies. Order from the same store in 1 batch.
I know things are never that simple but they "could be!"
Good Luck with your operation!0 -
What fantastic ideas everyone. I'm gonna write myself a list and get cracking!!!

`Hi - I did all my xmas shopping online last year and saved a fortune, I'm doing the same this year and have already bought half of my presents. If you're looking to buy dvds check this site first for the cheapest place you can buy it online - its a fab dvd price comparison site:
http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/
and this is one if you're buying computer games:
http://www.find-games.co.uk/
I buy a lot from Amazon and play - play have just started selling toys and both sites offer free postage.
The 3 for 2 offer is fabulous at Boots and its free delivery if you spend over 45 quid - the toys included in the offer tend to be the same price in other shops - so with the 3 for 3 they're a bargain.
Argos currently have offers on on some of their toys and its free delivery this weekend if you spend over 50 pounds - the code to use is EFD.0 -
Have you seen misi.co.uk. They are a few hundred shops on here and it is all handmade items. Most peoples products are really reasonable and often much cheaper and they have a lot of personalised gifts as well so you can get some really personal things that people will not have seen before.
Also most people have there location listed so perhaps they could drop off, and quite a few are offering free postage and packaging.
They also have a nice forum where if you want something in particular and cannot find you can ask people to come up with things in your price range.0 -
keep a eye on grabit while you can thread i get loads from there0
