guys
i am not sure you are aware all these pc/laptop deals that are coming out
before buying please bare in mind that some of these systems will not support the next microsoft operating system VISTA early next year.
If you are happy with just XP thats fine but remember alot of new programs etc will be for vista
you will get incredible bargains as the time gets nearer as surplus stocks of old technology are plenty so I here
have a read of this article

Vista will run on most modern computers.
the requirments for vista have been grossly overstated online, to the point where the majority seem to think that an upgrade will be needed to run.
this is unadulterated crap.
vista will run on computers that have:
a P4 2.0G + / amd 3000 +
512mb ram +
80G hard drive +
ati x1300 / nv 6600 series card +
it's a marketing thing.
it's good for the computing business all over.
it's not true.
download the Windows diagnostic tool here.
it'll tell you what (if anything) you need to upgrade to have a happy vista experience.
and don't always believe the hype

thanks for the link to the diagnostics tool. I am gonna download it to see if my beloved centino laptop is capable.

Haha - just tested mine. 16ghz pentium 4 processor, gig ram, 40gb hard drive, 128mb gfx card... completely fine. It only suggests getting an approved tv card... well I have a tv card in here, does me fine.0

I'm not surprised - a 16 Ghz processor is pretty hardcore
