Can they do this????

My partner and I agreed to buy 2 items (sofa/dining table+4 chairs) from a local retailer (Furniture Village) and pay for them using their 12-month interest-free finance option. A couple of days later we ordered another item (sideboard - a "Managers Special"), not part of the finance agreement, but the salesman said it would be ok to add this item to the finance arrangement. We duly picked this item up from the shop a couple of days later. We paid a large deposit for the fiance. It seems the sideboard was not added to the agreement but we only found this out this week - the order was placed on 7th July. We took delivery of the sofa on 1st October and have subsequently received the finance paperwork for the original 2 items. The retailer has told us that they will not deliver the dining table+4 chairs because the sideboard has an outstanding balance and company policy doesn't allow it - funny they let us take the sideboard away ourselves though. How do we stand regarding this as the original finance agreement was made for the 2 items we originally ordered and I would think the sideboard becomes part of a separate contract - for which there is obviously an existing finance agreement. The sideboard is not part of that agreement. Can they withhold delivery of the table and chairs???? I am tempted to say ok take the lot back and go and spend the money elsewhere, but the other half is not so keen on that course of action. Any ideas anyone???? Thanks in advance for your help/advice.
