I paid one of my creditors off completely some months before my BR. I did it because at that time I had no intention of going bankrupt (it hadn't even occured to me that I was insolvent!) and that loan was the most draining on my resources - it was £185 per month and I think there was £1,500 left to pay so I had the money and paid it all at once thus relieving me of the £185. It helped my cashflow. Nothing was ever said about it and of course since they weren't a creditor at the time of my BR they weren't listed on my forms.

Sinderella, it is £500 as others have said. But do you seriously want to borrow anything more? I know I don't and I think all other bankrupts on here would agree! Please don't go getting yourself in a pickle after going BR - it's for a new start and if old habits continue, you will end up there again a few more years down the line.
Sorry ~~~ But I disagree with that statement...
One has to borrow again after BR to re-build their credit rating.
Even the simple Credit Builder with a Cash Plus card is a LEGAL loan agreement!!!Stuart0 -
3 Clicks - one doesn't necessarily need credit or to rebuild their credit rating if they don't intend on taking out credit in the future. Its up to each individual how they want to carry on their lives. I myself will want to rebuild my credit rating to improve my chances of getting a decent re-mortgage and to change mobile provider should a better deal come up etc but everyone is different and has different wants (not needs!).

Thats VERY true FYP.
Its also our plan to rebuild CR, we started within weeks of going BR!!!
BTW Any advice on a moble contract please, I have started to look around this week but I havn't made any calls yet...Stuart0 -
Improving your rating is a good idea. But all the ideas you come up with you are being charged for them.
You will not get a mobile contract straight off. Mobile providers seem to be the only ones who take care in offering contracts and with BR on your file you will fail the check at the first stage. Some people on here go for the rolling 30 day contract after discharge as many companies allow that, then after some months of having this and paying on time etc, then they are able to upgrade to a proper contract.0 -
I'm with T Mobile but already had the contract pre-BR. I did however upgrade one month after my BR. Once you are with a provider they don't usually credit check to upgrade - providing you're not on PAYG.

I would suggest to anyone if you have a mobile contract before going BR to try and keep it during BR,
We have been with vodafone for years and years, they update our credit record monthly thus helping rebuild our credit.
within 3 months of discharge we upgraded our mobile phones no credit check was done.0
