Morning All
I am rather cross with myself today for lapsing in my daily checking of bank account balance. I normally have a routine before starting work - email, egg money manager, mse, pigsback, freecycle, bbc news & weather, but i have been slothful.
& so....
Popped into the supermarket for a couple of things on the way home last night & my card wouldnt go through. Tutted a bit as it means I have spent more than i meant to & must have been more wasteful that i thought. This morning i checked my account to find that there is still £800 available credit (not quite out of the 'o/d' zone obviously ) & so I havn't actually spent anything like as much as i had feared.
So i was cross with myself all night for spending & not checking the account daily & this morning i am cross with myself for not checking it straight away ( i know why i do it, avoiding the truth).
I am such a muppet, have i not lernt yet that not looking helps no-one.
In June I am going to do a spening diary & find out for certain what my nasty wasteful ways are doing.
Excuse my ratty ramble:o

Hi Anastacia,
I'm so silly like this too - I think I think that if I don't look at my online balance then it can't be bad and I am kind of protected from the reality and the money I need (or think I need) will magically be there when I need it- how silly is that?
Don't beat yourself up - at least you are still okay and not over your over overdraft - you are doing really well.
Love
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
try leaving yourself a "note" on the bedside table,, to "Check Check and Check Again",, this way you will have a "reminder" as soonas you get up..
(now what wass I going to check myself...LOL) Keep your Chin up.. it can only get better :beer:I'm one of those people who was born to have money,
but I just don't have any!

Thank you, feeling a bit better (especially as i am not the only one). Making a note to stick on the wardrobe door ! I have noticed that i check methodically for the first 2 weeks of the month & then miraculously forget as pay day get closer & things get tighter. The £800 was my after tax bonus & so normally i would have run out of cash.
Decided to divide it up between o/d & cc befire i get chance to spend it. But i am definitly completing a spending diary through june as I am being so wasteful.
Thanks again

Hi Anastacia - your morning routine sounds so like mine (I add clicks to the Hunger Site and it's buddies, plus a couple more banks and some days the phone companies!)
I have lots of times when I can't really be bothered but somehow the every day stuff does get done every day - aren't routines greatI find it much harder to keep up with the intermittent things (esp a spreadsheet I do called Snapshot which gives me a true position for what money I have - I try to update it just before and at the time of any money coming in).
I hope you get your rhythm back :cool:Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0
