John Lewis Kids Shoe special starts 25/5 (merged)

OH has just come home from work and said that they're going to be selling off loads of the start rite and clarks shoes from tomorrow. No fittings just pick up and buy.

He's not sure if this is just Nottingham, but we'll be hurtling in first thing to buy summer shoes for ours ... hope this helps someone!

John Lewis in Kingston - though applies to all across the country according to sales assistant I asked - have got Start Rite kids shoes on clearance (old stock) plus also have a load of Clarks shoes in the store room that they have yet to put out due to lack of space. There is a fairly wide variety of shoes and all seemed to be priced at £5 which is a really good reduction on the normal £33 price tag. I bought 2 pairs for my toddler and a friend got 2 pairs for her seven year old, and another pair for her baby. They are going fast but as I mentioned they had further stock in the store room that was not yet on display - doubtful any will still be there past the weekend. Good luck.
  • My littlew boy was in desperate need of new school shoes. Went into Watford John Lewis and bought him two pairs of school shoes a pair of summer plimsolls and a pair of school sandals for my 11yo daughter. All the shoes were Startright, which IMO are better than Clarkes.

    £126 worth of shoes....£20.

    :D

    Ding Dong....
  • Well, the assistant said they're not allowed to fit them, but she also said there were LOADS out the back they couldn't put out because there wasn't enough space. When we worked out what size we needed she went out to the stockroom and brought out all the pairs that were the right size (that said, it was REALLY quiet!). She also said the start rites were much better quality than clarks, so three pairs later, we're all sorted!

Summer shoes all round. Happy bargain shopping!

Went into Kingston first thing this morning and bought 5 pairs, 2 for our daughter, and three for friends kids. Still a good few left for boys and girls in most sizes but it was far too busy to ask for assistance and sods law they don't have the ones you like in the size you need. Unless you are buying a year and a half in advance! We asked at the sales desk if there were any more in stock but apparently what they've got is what's out so get down there today if you are thinking of going. At that price people are coming away with armfuls.

They also have some other clothes at half price and we bought a kahki jacket for 12 pounds (sizes from 2 years up to about 8) and a dark blue 2 piece 'Utility' jacket which has a thin summer jacket and a matching thicker hooded outer for winter (boys style but we mix and match our daughters clothes) again at 12 quid.

All in all not a bad mornings bargain hunting! I certainly couldn't afford to shop there otherwise.

Thanks soooo much to the original OP. I took a special trip to John Lewis in Welwyn garden City today, got there nice and early and was rewarded with 7 pairs of shoes, all for £5 each! All Clarks/startrite.

Got 3 pairs of shoes and a pair of slippers size 2, and 3 pairs of shoes size 9 for kids.(all girls) No luck with boys size 13 though, although assistant did check in stock room for me, as they were not busy. Plenty out on stands.

Also got a couple of items of clothes half price. Well worth the trip.:j
`Save a little money each month, and at the end of the year, you'll be suprised at how little you have.

Blimey! Hope I haven't missed out, does anyone know if they had any stocks left at the John Lewis in Milton Keynes??

I might try and get down there real early in the morning to see if they have any left.

Just been to John Lewis Norwich this morning.
Quite a good selection of Start-Rite shoes at 5 pounds.
Have to do your own fitting though.
