well i know that i probably aint going to get any sympathy on here but im just so fed up of being skint all the time and need to vent!
after joining this site a few months ago ive been really good and sorted out my budget etc. and i was just about getting on top of things and being able to live comfortably from month to month. But obviously without a full proper year of budgeting and saving for big expenses sorted out i STILL didnt have enough money for this month's MOT and car insurance renewal. So i've spent £700 on that in the last fortnight and now can barely afford to pay the bills until the end of July - never mind actually have a life! It just seems to have set me back to where i started from
if only i could find £2000 somewhere it would make such a difference to my life!!!
ok vent over

Sometimes you need to vent!!
I know what you mean. It's not much of a consolation but all I can say is, it does start getting better if you stick with it...even if it is just a little at a time.
I started paying my car insurance monthly last year as I was sick of not budgeting for it throughout the year (though I always meant to!) and then having to use a credit card to pay for it. Same will go for home insurance this year.
As for £2k cash injection......yes that would be nice!
I've had to make do with car boot sales, EBAY, Amazon and QuidCo instead.....all pennies welcome!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

I do the same thing every now and again. I get so fed up having to account for every penny that have a binge spend and then have to take stock, re-evaluate and start over again.

Hi Crazy Scientist
I can DEFINITELY sympathise here, I used to be so organised at work but terrible when it came to organising my own finances. Since I joined MSE, I've learnt so much and really changed my habits. For the first time since I passed my driving test (nearly 10 years ago) I actually have the money for my MOT and car tax which is due in the Summer, in previous years I've always had to withdraw the money out of the bank at the time I've needed it and then skint myself for the rest of the month.
Anyway!! Trust me, it does get better and easier and you'll find that the folks around here are a fantastic source of support and advice, you won't be able to stop moneysaving once you get your head round it - it's highly addictive!!
lots of luck

It does get easier
