Another credit file question?

After about 7 months since discharge I finally got hold of my credit files...
have a quick question (probably been answered already
)
All bar one of my creditors have still got my debts registered as defaults, not satisfied or settled etc.. however they are all dated a couple of years prior to my BR date... what are the possible repurcusions if I leave them alone?
I realise that if the dates were after my BR date then it'd be in my best interests to get them corrected to my BR date but with the dates so long before BR this isn't an issue.
I'm guessing the debts could potentially be sold on but is there any other reason for doing this?
As they are down as not being satisfied or settled can the default date be changed at a later date or is the default date fixed?

Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.

defaults should be NO later that date of bankruptcy....the debts "could" be sold on which could mean you might get the odd bit of hassle...they'll drop off file after 6yrs anyhow.

Cheers Phil.. all good here thanks
.. was up in your neck of the woods on sunday ... long drive home though
I guess the question i'm asking is, if the debt is sold on could the "buyer" default me (again) at a later date? at the moment all my defaults are in 2006 so will drop off before my BR.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

They are not allowed to, but some DCA's have been known to do that.
Again, you would have to go through the whole credit file correction process to dispute that.
Like you mine were dated well before the BR, but I just wanted to get them all sorted and done. Sort of final 'seal' on things.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Plus, I wanted to annoy HSBC.

Ok, so for peace of mind and avoidance of any complications later it's probably still worth a few letters despite the dates

Thanks Phil and Fermi
one thing I did notice on my credit file was an entry for someone with the same name as me but a different date of birth at one of my old addresses.. had taken out a loan (and paid it off!!), was definitely not me .. bit weird :hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

If it was like HSBC, then you/I inflicted only a tiny fraction of the pain on them compared to what they and their collectors did. :rolleyes:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
