Some advice, please - UPDATE!

I won a leather jacket and bag from Dakota on Great Competitions back in August. But they just aren't sending it!

Initially Dakota said it would be sent in Sept because the items weren't in stock and since it was a free prize it wouldn't take priority over normal orders. Then in Sept I emailed to politely say it hadn't arrived and ask when, and they said it would be mid Oct. Now in Oct, guess what they are saying - it won't be till Nov. Are they just taking the *%$*?

I know I have won it for free and should just be patient and grateful to have it at all, but is this normal? Should I maybe phone the Great Competitions office and complain and get them to speak to the promotor, or should I just wait it out? What would you do? Also, I haven't yet replied to the email I got yesterday saying it will now be mid November, because my instinct is to reply saying "and may I ask why?" but would that seem rude?

No I don't think it would be rude at all. It's your prize, you won it, & you want it. I won a CD from Song People last year, I estalked them until they sent it. It only took 9 months :rolleyes: Contact whoever you can & ask where your prize is.

I waited for 3 months for a Great Competitions win last year. I wouldn't bother trying to contact them because I emailed them many times and they didn't reply. I would say to find out which magazine is supplying the prize and contact them directly. I would also reply to the email that you have received and just politely ask why it's taken such a long time to supply the prize. Maybe there is a legitimate reason.

I find this part quite shocking. Why offer the prize to the promoters (Great Competitions) if they don't have it available to send out. It's not as if it's being tailor made. Cheeky company.

I hope you manage to get this sorted. Just keep on at them (politely)! You won the prize fair and square.

Hello everyone! Well, the jacket arrived this morning! YAY!!! I can't believe it's finally here!! I emailed them asking them to please just send the jacket if the bag wasn't available yet, and much to my surprise, they did!

Now I just need my OH to get back from his business trip and try it on to see if it fits....I won't know until Saturday morning!! Oooooohhhhhhh
