If your grandparents were willing to change the terms of their will, even if it's just until you're discharged, then that seems to me to be a sensible suggestion.
Holding of distributing the funds wouldn't really address the underlying issue which is that the money would vest in the Trustee if you inherit it before you're discharged. The Trustee can remain in place until all the assets are sorted out, no matter how long that takes.
Having it paid out in such a way that no one knows would put you in breach of the legal requirement to keep your trustee informed of any changes in your circumstances. And 'others' would know too - solicitors, banks etc.0
