Hi there... im new here.
I have the money saving expert book and have been taking down notes like a trooper today!
But... i'd still like some advice.
Im realllly in debt... about £20,000 in debt and have just left uni... but wont graduate until november. In terms of the giant debt, im with payplan so i think its kinda under control... but in terms of day to day living things are still tight.... so...
Firstly, do you think i'd be entitled to any benefits or do i have to wait until i'm officially graduated?
Secondly... i need to pay £240 rent per month as well as save up £1000 for a deposit on a new place in London (I'm moving there in September to start a new course for my career)
So.... although i do have a job i wont get paid until the end of June - does anyone have any tips on what to do in the mean time? I have thirty quid to last me til then..! And can anyone think of good ways to save that kind of money in such a short amount of time?
hm... as im writing this im starting to think im asking the impossible!
thanks in advance for any suggestions at all...

What income have payplan been using for you?
And welcome! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hello and thank you!
They were using my student loan as the main income... i should do a change of circumstances now as i'll be earning a wage, but then im scared that the amount im paying will increase...and while trying to save for the new place that would make things worse!!
Im hoping to be given a part time contract tonight at work and if so i should have a set timetable of shifts so i can find other work to fit in.... but things will still be so so tight..!0 -
Do speak to Payplan and advice them of your financial difficulties, they should be able to negotiage lower payments until you get paid. Once you know how much you will be earning they can review the situation again. Hope that helpsSave £12k in 25 No 49

Do you have any stuff you can sell on ebay/amazon?
Will you be working in September when you start your new course? Will you get a student loan/career development loan for this? Will you be able to work?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
well i have some text books and Cds on amazon but theyre not really shifting... might try ebay tomorrow.
i have to work for a year before my course, which will be great... regular pay cheques - hurrah!
i've already worked out a good budget for when i move which will help me clear a lot of my debts...
the only problem seems to be these few months before-hand....
if i dont get my rent sorted i can see myself having bad references and other problems down the line.
i'll find out tonight if i get a temporary contract and that'll be a good start.. wish me luck!0
