First Direct - Not recommended by brokers?

Looking at a mortgage at the moment and found one online with First Direct that beats the brokers quotes given to me.
My mortgage broker said he couldn’t beat their deal and couldn’t help me as FD do not pay brokers commission.
Is it ok to go direct to them?
