I am not ver conversant with financial matters and obvoiusly I know they collapsed at one point as a bank are they still a risky lender should I even be condiering them for a mortgage0

They are now the safest bank in the country.
Before they went down, they were very good as a lender, they just got a bit carried away and then when they asked for some money nothing else was in the papers!!"Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." Thomas Jefferson

if iwere to remortgage and the bank i mortgaged my house went ..no worries.. you are being given x thounsands of money fromthem to buy a house.
its different when you got a saving account and the bank goes bust and so does your money if you got more than 50 k.
northen rock is owned by the state and till few months ago was the prefered bank for the savers due to its 100 %secure status0 -
