NR + voluntary surrender

I have been in touch with nr about voluntarily surrendering my house to them, and have been a form to sign that says I will be responsible for any shortfall after br. I have no intention of signing this and also told by or not to. But, had call from nr tonight saying I will be liable for shortfall whether I sign form or not. I thought the shortfall would convert to unsecured debt and be included in br. So the question is I am right or are they???

I was stressing about that yesterday and was told that any shortfall would fall into br if you DONT sign the form.

I can say because I have had conversations with Northern Rock that they LIE, yesterday they told me to scribble out the part about liability and that would be fine.. sought legal advice and that is utter rubbish.

You know it's been bugging me all day about their lies, that's the 3rd one they've told me.. plus this new one to Tori, it's really not on.

They are bad aren't they. I suppose I am lucky I have been Reading these boards and know they are talking rubbish! Otherwise I would be petrified, not being responsible for shortfall on house was a factor in deciding to go br.
