First off, thanks to everyone who has replied and given advice/support - it's nice to know other people have been through it (not nice for you to have actually been through it, but to understand my situation, if you know what I mean!) and can give constructive advice.

Strangely enough a mortgage broker rang yesterday afternoon and asked if I was still looking to move the mortgage - obviously I said yes! Took mine and partner's details and said she'd ring me back within half an hour after running a credit check (!). 'Oh well', thinks I, 'that's the end of that then'. But it was a positive outcome - looks like we could move the mortgage to a better lender, at a (slightly) lower rate, fixed for two years. We'd save around £45 a week on what we're currently paying and it would give us those two years to clean up our credit record before moving to one of the lower rate companies! Yippee - there's light at the end of the tunnel after all.

I've also potentially landed some from-home work (thanks for the childminding tip, Emmzi, but my house is really not up to it!!) so that should help out too. Would still love some weekend work too, but the from-home is £10-14 per hour, with no phone charges incurred, so a-woohoo (as Chandler Bing would say).

I'll keep you posted how things are going - again, thanks for everyone's time and support - what a fab place this is!

The work I'll be doing is telemarketing (of a sort), where I'm just gathering thoughts/opinions from potential customers.

I registered with two sites - https://www.justparttime.co.uk and https://www.mumsandworking.co.uk - and got work from both of these. They're worth looking at if you can work from home because the jobs update weekly and there are some good ones to be found if you persevere.

Wish they'd give me something for recommending them!
