Blue Peter Appeal (OS)

I'm off because of a hernia op and I've got the TV in the background. Did anyone see Blue Peter? I was suprised to see the appeal not asking for people to make cash or collect cans (what I remember as a kid) but making operation gowns out of t-shirts as each one costs £3 for the charity to buy.
This hit me as quite OS - reusing t-shirts, decorating them to make them more kid friendly and then sending them in bulk to India.
But then again I thought 'how comes they can't make them cheaper than £3 in India, most our products come from there and I've seen t-shirts a lot cheaper than that out there...'

I expect because the T shirts made in India dont belong to an Indian company, they couldnt afford the prices they would have to pay just to keep them there.0

is that hygienic? operating gowns made out of old t-shirts decorated by children? or am i misunderstanding?0

Its not for the surgeons to wear its for the children to wear whilst they are operated on. These arent sterilised normally as you are covered with a sterile sheet and your skin is cleaned at the operation site. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

As picklepick said it is for kids to wear to the operating theatre, not during the actual op. I usually send a clothed child to the surgeon and get a naked one back! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

It would cost a lot more for them to make as they cannot grow the cotton.
When you see a cheap import that was made in India or a place like that, they are sent also the supplies for making.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Just printed the instructions. Will have a go at this as there is a drop-off centre near here. Thanks0

the OP is for cleft palate, so t-shirts for the kids to wear are OK.0
