Hi,

I'm getting two new cats (awww) - unfortunately, they need vaccinations.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good/cheap vet in the newington or central area of Edinburgh.

We use 'The Caledonian Cat Clinic' at

    38 Blackford Avenue
    Edinburgh
    EH9 2PP
    0131 466 7110

They are very professional and always very helpful unsure if they are cheap or expensive but I would always use them. We used them for out kittens including vaccinations.

They also have a Cat Clinic at:

    4 Bellevue Street
    Edinburgh
    EH7 4BY
    0131 558 9158

There is a PDSA clinic just off Slateford Road. They are obviously very good and very cheap
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Do you not need to be receiving housing or council tax benefit to use a PDSA clinic?

I would get the Yellow Pages out and ring round a few and ask. You should get them slightly cheaper with two but there can be an amazing difference in the pricing :)

I found that the vets I thought might be the cheaper certainly wasn't.

Not sure about cheapness, but Braid Vet are excellent, IMO. I would second the suggestion to call around.
    Free is my favourite price!

to use the PDSA on hutchison crossway you have to be in receipt of some benifit. If you are not, then they will take your animal on an emergency basis, ie if it was bleeding bad or what not, but they would charge you or ask you to pay some sort of generous contribution.

You also have the !!!!!! vet (used to be at the end of the meddows) and as sombody said on here, the braid vet.

If you do not have alot of money, i would contact the PDSA and explain your circumstances to them, they might take you.

I would go for the !!!!!! vet as they have students there, they are more of a college for vets on training and they are cheaper than normal vets. NB all trainee vets are supervised at all times :)

Good luck and i hope your kittens are nice and healthy :)
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

Not a vet suggestion but a cautionary tale! We also recently took on 2 unwanted cats - not kittens but adult cats. Took them to the local vet to register & check them over & one went feral and freaked out savaging the vet & drawing loads of blood. He was in a right state but very good about it considering what she did. She is sweetness & light at home but dreading if she ever gets ill & needs treatment, her records at the vet now have warnings on them that she will have to be sedated before examination. Explains why the previous owners didn't get their vaccinations done after the first couple - just a shame they didn't warn us!

Small animal clinic at !!!!!! Vet College, summerhall place. Bang on your doorstep in Newington. Opposite meadows.

Don't have clue about prices though.
