In some complex situations, I don't think a forum should ever replace specialist advice if that's what is needed - higher or basic rate taxpayer.
But high-earners were hit very hard in the last budget ... removal of personal allowances; an extra %age on higher rate tax rate; and the removal of higher rate relief on pension contributions.
I work in Remuneration and Benefits and the interaction of the different changes is horribly complex. More so than anything I've seen in the past 20 or so years, especially for those employed.
So if your question is about the budget changes and you earn £150k or more, I'd say "sit tight" for now and see what emerges as there are some regulations not yet drafted or drafted and not yet passed.
If you want to "gen up" on some of those issues, then post away. But don't expect to replace specialist advice as if your issues are about the Budget changes, you're gonna need it! But things are not promising as HMRC is announcing extensions to the anti-avoidance powers almost daily :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
good advice is good advice if saving at 20% or 40% the advice is the same. THe calulations of what is worth it might change and the previous post points yet more odds and sods that really muddle the situation still further at the top end. BUT especially if saving alot of tax is the issue use this forum for hints tips etc BUT pay a professional to ask ALL the questions and get full advice and have someone to turn to if it goes wrong. IF you are paying big tax then you more likely to be able to save big therefore pay the fees!!0
