Be wary of the new overdraft charges from december

Authorised upto £2500 = charge £1 a day
Authorised over £2500 = charge £2 a day
Unauthorised overdraft = charge £5 a day

and they are to stop paying the 0.01% interest of balances in credit

wouldnt be funny to wake up owing £5 a day for an unuathorised 50p "ooops, i didnt know i was overdrawn" overdraft would it...

£150 a month in charges could easily push a wannabee-BR over the edge

    I dont care, im discharged.......lol

THOUSANDS of bank staff in Halifax can again look forward to an annual bonus – despite the near-collapse of HBOS, which lost around £10 billion last year.

Taxpayers' money was used to help bail out the bank, now under the control of the Lloyds Banking Group.

And banking executives – currently under fire for the huge bonus culture that made many of them millionaires – are again ready to splash the cash

... which they are replacing with a flat payment of £5 every single month (after tax).

That is significantly higher than the interest that you'd get at the moment, and probably higher than you could get anywhere else.

Firstly, there's a £10 fee-free buffer, so an accidental 50p would result in a charge of £0 (as opposed to £28+£35=£63 now). And even if you did go £10.01 over, then you'd still just be charged £5 per day. Surely this is a vast improvement over the £63 that they (and most other banks) currently charge?
