At the end of the month (after paying out rent, travel and to my debts) I have £453.50 left.
This is for food, bills and anything else.
My bills are low cause I am on a meter for gas and elec and I share with my sister - so around £20 a month.
Last month my food shopping came to £75 - this is my half of the shopping i do with my sister and includes extra food i have to buy for the nights my boyfriend comes round (i cook separetley from my sister in these nights)
i also have a mobile which is usually around £25 a month, although last month it was £40 as i had to make some work calls during the day.
so this means i should have over £300 a month left - but it never feels like that!?!?
why?!

hi winkle1,
Have you made a spending diary? I did and it was a real eye opener, £1 here, 50p there all adds up (for example I had no idea I was spending nearly £200 on taxis per month!!). I have knocked the taxi habit on it's head (£30 last month) and tried to bring my lunch with me to work 4 days out of 5 (saving me at least £60 per month). It also makes you think about every penny you spend as you have to write it down.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
Hey winkle!
As Imelda says a spending diary is an absolute gem in working out where that 'surplus' money goes! It's quite scary how all those little purchases add up! :eek:0
