Fraudulent loan app?
Not sure if this is the best board to post this, can a mod move if not?
I got a phone call yesterday from a loan company (whose name I foolishly didn't get) saying that they understood I was in the market for a loan. I said no and was about to put the phone down when they said that they had been passed the info by payday loans, who had apparently turned down the application I made for an £8,000 loan and were passing my details on to the unnamed company in case they wanted me.
I have made no such application. In fact I've never had a loan in my life.
I told the guy this and he gave me the details of the man at Payday who contacted him, who I have called and left messages with but to no avail. I have checked my credit file and there is no record of a search by Payday although there are some searches on 11 September that I don't remember, but by insurance companies (it's possible that I was looking at different deals on that day although I don't remember going as far as letting someone credit search me. I'm pretty careful about that kind of thing).
So, if there's no record of a loan application on my credit file, what should I do? Just keep an eye on it? Not worry? This comes hot on the heels of a credit card fraud in August (Post Office, card intercepted before it arrived at my house and lots of money spent on it. All refunded) so I'm feeling a bit fed up with it all.

I had some weired call from a International number who asked me to hold, put me through to someone sounding like dellboy telling me my loan was approved blah blah, no credit check needed just needs my card number and three digits on card to confirm its my bank and my wages go into the account.
I don't know what is more worrying..... the OBVIOUS attempt at scamming money this way.... or the abundance of posters on here who willingly gave their details out and create posts complaining they have been ripped off.0
