Large Pumpkins £1!!!

Sorry But i have to say that these pumpkins taste disgusting. They are grown for size rather than taste. I bought the morrisons ones and they were watery and tasteless.
you just must have been unlucky. i always buy the large pumpkins each year and carve them out for halloween and use the pulp for soups etc., and each time always tasted good! Try to buy a good hard pumpkin that has no soft patches and gives a good sound if you tap it.
Its a shame if people are throwing away the pumpkin "flesh" waste of good food IMHO, plus i throw the outer skin in the compost bin.0 -
I bought a big pumpkin from Asda last year and it tasted fine. And made a really good jack-o-lantern. :-)I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

i've used these many times even after having used them as jack o'lanterns
carve on halloween then simply put the candle out when you're done with it and cover it with plastic wrap til you're ready to use it the next morning
i put the whole thing (sans candle of course!) in the oven at about 150 for several hours until it sorta 'melts' and the skin easily pulls away.
i've been doing this for years with no problems whatsoever, occasionally i've had some darkening inside from the candle, i've just scaped that out first before popping it into the oven
if you aren't carving it for a jack o'lantern then be sure to remove the strings and seeds before roasting
i love pumpkins, i'll have to check around here after halloween as they normally mark them down quite a bit then and i like to buy a fair few to eat over the winter months, they store well in a cool dark place yummmmmmmmm0 -
Lidl have reduced them to 75p0

cheers for that Saint_Chris, i have a lidl quite near to me and i have to go into town tomorrow anyway, since i'm still feeling poorly i planned on stumping up for a taxi anyway so i finish my business at lidl and get my money's worth for the taxi ride by stocking up on pumpkins!0

Lol I have never had a car and too late now, pensioner, I have a shopping trolly
worth its weight in gold. got three of these one for me and two for neighbours
Where theres a will theres a way
i love my trolley bag too, i don't care if i'm only in my 30's i've used one for 5 years now and it's saved me soooooo much trouble and money in the long run!
i did go to lidl today, mine only had them marked down to 1.49 but still not a bad price so i grabbed one for now, later this week when i'm feeling more up to it i'll take my trolly down there and get another 3 i think, as that's about as many as i could get in my bag!
i confess i did get the taxi home today but i was panting and sweating so heavily just from doing simple everday things (lung still infected) i really did have a good excuse this timei did also make it quite worth the trip buy buying a full trolley's load and two big canvas bags full of food, now i won't have to get asda online shopping for a few weeks so actually in some ways i'm a little up as the taxi fare was cheaper than the cheapest asda slot!
