my bankruptcy.

:jmyself and my wife declared ourselfs bankrupt is jan 09. after seeking debt advice from the cccs. any way we handed back the keys to our house to the morgage provider. and i also told the secured loan company that we was declaring our selfs bankrupt. they couldnt do a lot really.before the bankruptcy date.we found a house to privately rent .which went threw ok as our credit rating was still intact at this time .also i applied for a basic bank account with the nationwide cash card only no problems there. bankruptcy day went to court with my wife was in the room about five minutes then out . as a bankrupt. spoke to OR in the court told him i needed the nationwide account left open for our wages to live on . no problem there with the OR .any way spoke to OR 3 weeks later over the phone about our debts . as they were mostly joint debts he said no need to speak to my wife. which was good. we did not have to pay any monthly payments to him either . i get a yearly bonus with my company aswell. i rang the OR to find out if i was allowed to keep the money £2000 to buy a bigger car as we had a baby. we was told yes to my amazement. any way in july this got the early discharge letter threw the post for me and my wife. which went threw ok and as of sep 2009 we are discharged. i know our credit is bad. but not botherd not after credit. find it a little hard without a debit card .so applied yesterday for the coop cashminder account which was approved . so i have to admit after all the stress and worrying about going bankrupt. in our case must admit wasnt to bad at all.i do have a question though i did not include my wifes catalogue account in the bankruptcy as we owed them no money.my wifes credit limit is £4000 on this catalogue as a discharged bankrupt should we have told the catalogue company. about our bankruptcy. its still £4000 credit even today

  • I don't suppose the catalogue company or their financial guys will reference you again and will manage it all in house.

Don't know whether you should have told them or not. Catalogues are usually overpriced and massive interest rates so probably a good idea to get rid of it but I can think of arguments for keeping it open.
