We applied received a letter saying we would receive a cheque for £250 and a good will gesture for an under performing endowment policy we have. I did not take the letter in properly and patiently waited for the cheque, it took several months to arrive, after chasing it up lots of times. I assumed, wrongly that the cheque and covering letter were the final correspondence to us and that we could complain to the company after this time, which we did. We received a letter back saying that we had left it too late as it was the original £250 offer letter which was the final correspondence, after reading this letter again, it did say this on the letter. I feel this was a con and a good way of confusing on their part and there must be a way of not letting them get away with this sort of crafty behaviour! Any advice!

Hi Poppy,
a bit more info would be nice. Did you complain to a firm about the miss-sale of an endowment. If yes then when did the endowment start. Also what was the reply from the firm about your complaint, finally did the letter say you had 6 months in which to refer your complaint to the FOS.
Let us know and we'll try to help.
