Is my meat ruined?

Aaargh, forgot to take my stewing steak out of the freezer to use in the slow cooker so i thought i'd defrost it quickly in the microwave. Unfortunately i used the medium setting instead of the defrost setting and it's kind of half cooked :o is it totally ruined or do you think i could still use it in some way?

thanks

  • I'd still give it a go - others may not but I wouldn't want to waste it. I would do what I originally intended to do.

I don't know about whether or not it would be OK from a safety point of view. If you're sticking it in the slow cooker, it will soon soften up.

    I personally would risk it.

I'm sure it will be fine. People eat steak at all stages from raw to cremated so I can't see it would do you any harm.

I find the only way to rescue meat like this is to use wine in cooking, two or three glasses inside the cook seems to improve the dish no end!;)

If it was chicken i'd be hesitant but i think beef will be ok.

How did it go zubezube? My DH always manages to half-cook any chicken he defrosts in the microwave. We've always used it as originally intentioned, and are both alive to tell the story :D I can't see how the meat would be a danger, maybe not as appetising as normal, but definitely edible ;)
