P50 form - headache!

Hi there

Hoping someone could unravel what I need to do to reclaim some tax.

I finished at a job 2 months ago and when I recieved my P45 I sent off the P50 form to reclaim the tax I'd paid as I wasn't going to be working for the rest of the financial year (I was going back to university). After I'd sent the form off, something cropped up and I did a short term job for one month. I rang the tax office where I'd sent the forms and they said it was invalid as I'd started another job. They told me to send another P50 when I'd finished this one.

Now I have a P45 from the second job, but the tax office is different (previous one was in Glasgow, this one is in Lincoln). Since I've earned under the 647L threshold I want them to combine the claim. My old P45 and P50 are in Glasgow and I'm being asked to send this new P45 to Lincoln.. The tax I'm owed is £550 from the first job and £170 from the second so it's not a measly amount and I don't really want the tax offices to get confused and lost in the system! I have tried calling them to find out this information but cannot get through due to being on hold for long periods of time.

Should I send everything to Glasgow again or both P45s and a new P50 to Lincoln? Or both to both places?

Thanks!

You always deal with the tax office which deals with your last employer. Therefore send another P50 and the new P45 to Lincoln with a covering note to say that the P45 from your job with xx Ltd was sent to Glasgow. With the wonders of modern technology your tax records will have followed you to the Lincoln job.
