I would say in theory yes, but ........ according to my recipe book you still need to leave the lid off the SC for 2-3 hours to allow the moisture to evaporate so you will still get the vinegar smell and also it seems like you have to keep it in the fridge and it will only keep for about three months.

if u have a breadmaker with a jam setting that works still a bit of vinegar smell though
i dont think ur ever eliminate the smell compleatly unless u have power in an outside garage/ shed and put the cooker on in there

this is what i do when i use my dehydrator cos its ever a contsant hummmmm and its annoying LOL

janie, l did my latest chutney in a pressure cooker on full power for 12 mins, used half the vinegar (as per instructions) and it worked a treat, l had the extractor fan on and window open and hardly any smell. (I did a plum chutney and it won't be too tart as it was almost good enough to eat when bottling :T )

Lucky you l've had a post on freecycle for some green tomatoes and no replies, my plants didn't fruit much this year they were outside and it's been too windy. :( so green tomato chutney for us this year.

    Happy moneysaving all.
