Hi guys, at very short notice I have agreed to have 2 boys from boarding school for the whole of half term beginning this Saturday!
one is 14 the other 17.
I would like to take them out a bit, do you know of any firework displays that we could go to? or anything else?
I was thinking bowling, Pizza Express, ... maybe a trip round OHs work place if he can swing it...and then I ran out of ideas
O golly , 2 teenage boys to feed again, what if they dont like my food?
I ok at dinners but lunches are tricky, I find it hard to fill boys on my staple lunch menu of a ham and tomato sandwich!so food suggestions (MSE) welcome too plese

Hi,
The Ulster museum opens on the 22nd so that's a good bet. Also, W5 can be good fun even for older kids. Movies are always worth a try. The Ulster folk and transport museum has a fine selection of cars, trains, motorbikes etc. all under cover so you don't have to go out into the rain. Failing that there's the city hall which has just opened so has lots of events surrounding that. Check out the Belfast Welcome center for local fireworks etc.
Good Luck!!
Cheers,

Why not ask them what they want to do? Get to know their interests?0

Good point jmc , but we only have a week. They are from Hong Kong and most likely very polite! I have been advised that they are not good with choices, its best to say "we are doing such and such" otherwise they have a problem !
Actually , they are 14 and 15 not 17 as I was originally told,.their English is reasonable but not great.
I'm hoping that, like most teenage boys I know, they will want a big long lie in bed in the mornings!

Sorry thought boys were maybe a partner's children. I never knew schools did this. Very kind of you to invite them into your home look after and entertain them.
I took son on Tayto factory tour during summer. It was a real good afternoon for all ages. Lots of freebies.0 -
What about a trip round Bushmills Distillery? You will be able to deal with anything after that!! :rotfl::rotfl:
If you get a dry day nothing better for them than clambering over Giant's Causeway.
Perhaps Belleek factory/shop might provide them with ideas for some souvenirs(sp) for parents.0 -
The boys arrived this morning, rather quiet. The first thing they wanted to do was get their laptops wifi enabled. This took ages because of theirs being in Cantonese and ours in English! Even required a phone call to Dad in Hong Kong but we got it sorted after that.
Too wet to go to the fireworks. They dont have coats! can you believe that?!so I raided the understairs cupboard and found a couple of old "Peter Storms"
They are sitting about wearing a couple of pairs of my daughters pink fluffy slippers because they forgot their own and dont wear shoes in the house.
Went to cinema this afternoon, it was "UP" and they both enjoyed it.
Methinks this could be a VERRRY long week.
Well, one of the boys really wants to watch his favourite team Liverpool play a match tomorrow, I havent the heart to tell him we dont have Sky sports! None of my friends or family do either. We cant take him to a pub obviously.
I wonder if there is anywhere else we could watch it? Any ideas?oh dear!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
