Joint Mortgage Holder Refuses to Pay

I'm in a situation where I have a joint mortgage held in my name and my ex-fiance's name. The house is for sale since we split up, but now she decided she does not want to pay her portion of the mortgage anymore and I cannot afford it. She understands the credit implications of this but does not care.

What can I possibly do (if anything) to preserve my credit? I can pay more than my portion, but not the entire mortgage.

Please advise.

Go and talk to the building society/bank, tell them what the situation is and ask what the options are?

Are you able to buy her half out and take the whole mortgage over yourself but extend the years to drop the repayments to carry you through until the house is sold?

It might be that the bank/building society will give you a 'mortgage holiday' to cut you some slack.

There are no "portions". You are each liable for the full payment.

As suggested above, talk to the lender.

They may cut you some slack, but it won't last forever.

Give consideration to getting property on the market and trying to maintain agreed payments until sold. Keep receipts/bank statements to prove that you made the payments and not your ex.
