Red Onion Marmalade - jar question.

Am making Red Onion Marmalde from a recipe on this forum, however it doesn't say whether the mixture goes into the jars hot or cold.

The chutnies that I made last week went in hot, however I am getting conflicting info when googling on this.

I always put hot preserves into hot jars That way, when they cool, they contract, a vacuum is formed in the space above the preseve, helping to prevent spoilage

Putting hot preserve into cold jars can cause the jar to crack.
