Hi
I have just received my credit files and wondered about some of the info.
Is it 6 years that info stays on there- whether the info is good or bad??
Also, when does it drop off- is it the end date?
thanks
Stella

They come off 6 years after the date you defaulted - whether 'satisfied' or not.0

Under 'Any Questions?'...EstellaK wrote:I have looked- it doesnt really give that info thoughWhat should I do if I paid a defaulted account but my report hasn't been updated?
If you have paid a defaulted account in full, you should contact the lender (the address may be found at the end of your credit report) and ask them to update our records to show that the account is "satisfied". Or you can contact us and we will contact the company on your behalf.
We keep defaulted accounts on your report for six years from the date of default, whether or not the debt has since been paid.0 -
Obviously I didnt look enough!!! Thanks
Should I contact the credit file company then and ask them to remove the ones that show a 1999 or early 2000 default date then?0 -
The credit reference agencies remove data automatically once it is over six years old.“Official Company Representative
