Advice Needed :) Masterchef Challenge

Hello All,
I was wondering if you could help me.
We are doing a 'Masterchef Challange' at work. It lasts for about three weeks and my day is Friday.
I have to prepare a meal to serve at Friday dinner.
There is a microwave to warm the food up so I would make it on Thursday night.
I am stuck on how to keep costs down as I have to feed approx 20 people. I have thought of homemade pasties or lamb/beef hotpot?
Any other reciepe ideas?
Anybody got an idea hof how much it would cost roughly to make the hotpot? the pasties?
Thanks in advance

Good ideas
I'm terrible at costing though!
Could you go cheaper by doing vegetarian/vegan food? Do you think they would eat that?
I know there is a VERY cheap Dahl recipie on here, do you think they would all eat that?
Or how about a vegetarian tagine with minted cous cous? I make a super easy one after one day finding the courgettes were the only thing in the fridge! Can type up if it interests you.
Also, if vegetarian it would save worrying about heating up chunks of meat to a safe temp in the microwave when you have 20 portions0 -
Make a good hearty soup (onion..broc. etc) or chili, get 25 thick rolls (for extra in case you have a boo boo)...scoop out the middle of the rolls and then pour the soup or chili into the rolls and top with easy melting cheese (chedder etc).

Sounds very good to me personally but I dont know if the lads in the office would be as enthusiastic!!!
Think it would have to contain meat really, maybe a broth would work though?TOTAL DEBTS

Then you could do a stew instead.

You could do a tagine with lamb then? Or chicken? Just thinking it is not so much reheating as 20 portions is a lot and you can do the couscous with a kettle and a fork
Nordictat2's suggestion of a stew/soup is very good though. I should imagine most people will go down the route of chillis and curries. At least with a stew or soup there are so many options so yours stands out. Also if you get lots of bread rolls(or make for extra brownie points!) you can get far more than you need if your concerned about having enough and you can take any left overs home for your freezer0 -
I just thought it was an easy thing to do...since you only have a microwave there...heat up the stew, soup, etc. in the microwave..cut up the tops, spoon it in the rolls..top with cheese and place the lid back on
Easy peazie
