1st Wedding Anniversary - been a funny year !!

It's our first wedding anniversary on Sunday and happy to say despite life deciding to throw some pretty big piles of brown stuff at us in the last 12 months, I wouldnt change my lovely hubbie for the world.
His BR in July was the culmination of over 6 months of trying to do the right thing but the realisation that we just werent going to ever manage it. It hasnt quite been easy sailing post-BR but we both vowed that we would co-operate fully with the OR and it seems to be paying off.
I'm very protective of him and to be honest if anyone did give him a hard time I'd "knock their block off"! Yes I've probably got very rose tinted glasses when it comes to him but as far as I'm concerned like many people, he's just ended up in a rotten situation, he's not here because he made a mint & lived the high life, far from it.
So hope you dont mind me being a bit soppy but I'd like to say to my hubbie that I love him and he's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I wouldnt recommend going through a BR in your first year of marriage but I've learnt things about my hubbie I never knew before & they havent put me off one little bit.
Good luck to any other couples going through the BR process and hoping that we can look forward to a very quiet & non-eventful time, just hope that Murphy bloke has got tired of the mud-slinging for a while .....

Thats a nice post Kew. My OH and I are thinking of renewing our vows (cheap and cheerful of course, no big thing) when we get discharged. We have been through it all, in sickness and in health for richer for poorer, and we are different people after all these years. I think it is nice to openly say you still love each other after a tough time.

Thanks for all your lovely replies.
Yes Br hasnt been a bundle of fun but we're getting there and just glad I was there to help, to do it on your own must be very hard.
Hasnt all been plain sailing I did have a fun "up like a volcano" moments when he finally started to tell me just how bad the problem was. Was drip feeding me because he thought I'd go nuts but it just meant I'd get my head around it and then he'd add another debt to the pile.
But the deed is done and the relief will one day come when we know it's all over. Expect in years to come we'll be able to look back and even smile about it - all relationships have to go through their trials & tribulations and we just decided to get a whole load over & done with in one fail swoop.
Darnit - that sounds like a lovely idea & I hope you have a great time
Thanks again :-) xxDMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180 -
Congratulations on your first wedding Anniversary! hope you have celebrations lined up.. does not have to be expensive either my husband still tells the the best present i ever gave him was a bottle of lambrini and something else wrapped up in ribbon with 3 rosettes (ill leave that to the imagination) total cost less than £4 haha..
We have made it to our 19th wedding anniversary, I can safely say the time since our BR has been better than the past 6 years of marriage, we nearly split up, infact he did move out for a couple of months but when i found out he had been acting like a ogre just because of the amount of debt we were in and I knew nothing about, I was determind to make it work, and sort out the mess.
now, nearly 4 months of being discharged our life is better than ever. I love him more than ever. I hope you guys make it to more than 19 years too!!0 -
