Car allowance?

Hi all,
Slightly confused over the car allowance so greatful if anyone could point in the right direction.
I am starting a new role however in todays market it is based over 130 miles away meaning a weekly comute of over 260 miles (I stay up there for three days during the week). I have been reading the HRMC website and it states that for a commute to your regular workplace you cannot claim the 40p allowance - is this correct even for people who have to commute well outside their regular employment area?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as not being able to claim the allowance might impact my decision as that is quite a lot of mileage to stump up my end.

Travel to and from work is not allowable for tax purposes. Even if it's a long way! Travelling around in the course of your duties is tax deductable, assuming your employer does not pay you a tax free allowance.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Will this position be a temporary position which is expected to last no longer than 24 months with you then returning to your normal place of work?0
