Hi Know I must sound really stupid but LOB (Life of Balance) does this affect your credit rating if you ask the credit card company to give you that?

i'm not entirely sure i understand your concern, but maybe this will help.

if you are asking one of your existing cc companies to change your card to a LOB they may or may not carry out a credit check with the CRAs.

if you are applying for a new card then they will carry out a credit check with the CRAs.

neither situation will adversely affect your credit rating except that they will leave a search footprint on your file, but unless your have applied for many cards this doesn't matter.
