Just received some of these cheques and on the stub next to the cheque number is a letter indicating which offer yours are for.
    B for balance transfer rate
    P for purchase rate and
    C for cash rate

If you don't want to receive cheques just phone (free!!) 0800 9524945 :)

Just received some more with the letter S on them. These are charged at cash rate

I read this item with interest, if only because i used to receive credit card cheques once a month, EVERY month. I got really sick of the waste of time, effort and paper so I emailed them.

A few days later i received a telephone call apologising for sending them so regularly. All seemed to be well, no cheques for the last few months. . .

Guess what arrived on my doorstep this morning?
    A fresh set!

PS. Every one has been marked 'C' for Cash Rate
    Debt at Highest, £18,000.00

As of October 2010, Debt Free!!! :j:T
  • I go along with Ermatrude. The cheques are a nuisance. The cheques themselves are not personalised but the accompaning letter is. Have to be carefull how the letter is disposed of.Likewise the personalised invitations for new cards. Return invite in reply paid envolope " pse delete me form your mailing list"
Hope following is not jumping to new thread but are other people paying interest still on cash withdrawels because purchases have not been fully paid off ? Has any one else suddenly been charged cash withdrawel interest after long time without because C/CARD co is acting on its terms and conditions.
Purchases not fully paid off so cash withdrawel interest charged?

Sadly, from the 20th February 2008 the CapOne "P" cheques will no longer be fee-free nor have the usual 56 day interest-free period. Over the last 10 years they have been an absolute boon and I've made several thousand £££s out of them.

Probably a knock-on effect from the reclaiming CC charges crusade, like BT fees being increased. It's people like me who have been following the rules all these years who now lose out.

Actually its far more likely that the increase in BTs fees, is because of tarts like you (and me) rather than CC card reclaiming. CC card charges since the OFT announcement have been recouped by "stopping 0% deals if people are late" and other small charges. When I talk to credit card companies; a far more significant bit has been the fact the publics been educated into how these deals work and there are a lot of tarts (and even some stoozers; which i'm guessing you are).

So while I sympathise; I wouldn't lay this at the door of reclaimign.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I always shred the cheques when I get them from the Bank of Scotland. Quite happy to spend on my Halifax One card that I just received though, 0% until end of August. :-)

  • Can you balance transfer the "cash" element of a credit card onto another interest free credit card offer? When that peirod runs out with the new card is the cash element still treated as "cash" or just part of the original lump sum transfered?
  • Is it possible to reclaim the charges for using credit card convienience cheques?
