Being Sacked

So I've been suspended from work and am awaiting a meeting with HR and manager. I'm expecting to lose the job but I'm just trying to find out some information. I'm entitled to take someone into the meeting, are they allowed to speak or are they there purely to make sure everything is fine. And my second point is what happens to any unused holidays that I haven't taken that I was entitled to, do they get forfeited due to being dismissed or am i entitled to the pay for them?
Thanks in advance

hi, you are entitled to have someone with you, being a friend or even legal professional depending on the circumstances. They can speak if relevent.
Holiday pay should be paid too you, but depending on circumstances of your dismissal e.g. theft? and no im not accusing you of it.
Can you explain any more details of your susspension????

Working in an office a customer rang up to put an order through and it didn't get done. Around 6 months ago there was a big move within the company and now we're understaffed. So on certain days there can be one person taking 4/5 peoples calls. Mistakes are being made due to the amount of calls and the lack of staff to answer them all. We've been bringing it to managements attention almost weekly since but nothing has been done about it and mistakes continue to happen.0

Firstly you are not as the previous person stated allowed a Friend or Legal professional. you are legally entitled to a union representative or colleague. If you don't have one these who can attend the company may allow a friend or legal representative but this is entirely voluntary.
Regarding the order. I wouldnt expect to be dismissed for a one off - unless it extraordinarily high value. However continued mistakes or big one off losses can be dismissable.
You appear to expect to be dismissed which suggests to me you think its deserved.
You will be entitled to accrued holidays in pay. The company may insist though that if they opt to give you notice of a dismissal that you take it in that period.0 -
That is soooo unfair, You need to get someone in the meeting with you. Do you feel your the scape goat?? Have you any records of how many calls you get per day? How long the average call takes etc. Be prepared for everything. Maybe they will get more staff after this, have you had any other warnings, verbal written etc? If not then to sack you might be quite hard.
Please keep calm at the meeting, be polite and to the point. Most of all good luck

I received my only warning, a final written warning last December. I booked two weeks off for Christmas and during that time someone went through my desk and found a lot of work that was placed there during the two week period. I don't think it's deserved but I know how the company works and during the last 6 months they seem to be finding the littlest excuse to sack people.0

So you have a long period of documented underperformance.
May as well resign now and save yourself from being sacked.0 -

How does one instance of work being left in the draw constitute a long period of documented under performance.
Unfortunately I would guess its too late to appeal the final written if you think it was undeserved. Im not sure were you stand with regards to the company being understaffed and over busy. If you have union representation then I suggest using them and fast!
GOne day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T
Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged.
Or maybe not:mad:0 -
Unfortunatley some companies do try and look for ways to get rid of staff. If they can find under performance in your work then they already have a head start.
Is there anyone else who works there that can back up your claims of under staffing? Did you not question in december your written warning, and try and explain that the work was put in the drawer while you were on holiday - was it dated?
Good Luck

Let us be strictly accurate. One instance, over 6 months ago of mispalced or planted evidence of underperformance.Anihilator wrote: »So you have a long period of documented underperformance.

While your advice as to course of action may be a possibility here, there is no basis for you to slur the OP's reputation or honour. And hence you have nothing approaching a factual basis on which to give your advice. Please keep your mean side in check.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
