Hehe, one of the ones we're viewing at the weekend..doesn't have a bathroom, though its got a house which some of what we've looked at hasn't had.
That for us is a possible ''tick the box house''. There doesn't seem much offputting about it....but from the details I'm not ''feeling it'' if you get my meaning. It would be stupid not to vew because of that though...the feeling might be hidden there somewhere.
The other one is a total.....wide ball, which doesn't ticjk the boxes but might be worth trying.0 -

Where abouts? are you still looking to invade Surrey?
BBC News just said population is going to swell by half a million a year. I fear the end game for resources will start within the next 30 years. Perhaps best to secure arable land now. I don't agree with the stick head in sand scientists will solve everything mentality, not least because I don't trust frankenstein food.
I'm probably sounding a little mad. However the guy that said the earth was spherical (can't recall his name) was considered crazy too. As were many others throughout history. In fact many free thinkers were persecuted.
Totally rambling now, note to self not to mix drinks, or to post after drinking.:)0 -

Sorry to hear about the house Cleaver...but plenty more about....with looxe corner baths too I am sure...you won't miss out on any retro luxe style.
I can see lir living on arable splendour...in a caravan sometime soon too.;)0 -

Neither of these are in surrey, no. I was sent setails of a couple of things i surrey, but fairly suburban areas, that offer excellent business oppertunity but might just break our souls.
and a third surrey one we LOVE but has been the subject of long talks with planners and i think its a waste of time worring about that one anymore: its for someone else..but smeone very lucky!
To a certain extent the majority of what you eat is frankenstein food, just more slowly adapted by man, through real breeding/pollination not lab adaptation. So are we, I guess. But I feel the same way, really
Thing is, this isn't just an investment...so getting something workable instead of something just to invest in is still reasonably important to us ATM. We do find a few, and then when we start the other enquiries things come up that halt proceedings.

Pythagorous(sp?) thought the world was round but only because that is the most perfect shape which seems like a terrible argument to me.
Maybe you're thinking of Columbus (invented Americans and thus invented the deep fried peanut butter & jelly sandwich and the Cadillac) or Thomas Aquinas.
Thomas Malthus wrote in the C18th that the world was going to run out of food as food production increases arithmetically and population increases geometrically. He's been wrong so far.0 -
You could paraphrase The Jam by saying ..I think 'poor' is a good description.
A decade of houses shooting up in value anyway + no imagination = lots of awful, dull, bad houses.
"The public get what the public want.."
The neighbouring house to mine is a lovingly restored 18thC coaching house, which has been up for sale for a while now.
My neighbour chose to clean every brick and leave it 'au naturelle' rather than render the whole thing. He also spent more money on original hard wood sash windows rather than cheaper more modern upvc stuff.
The result? An expensive conversion which people erm dont want. I suppose that's the truth of it.
Viewers of the house make comments about 'no sunhouse/conservatory' [ahh yes, because conservatories were all the rage in the 18th century
]
Maybe we end up with lots of econo-box houses because thats what we really want?0 -
We offered at £10k (around 6%) under the asking price and they didn't get back to me after promising they would. I rang yesterday morning and they said that they had someone else interested, so we offered another 2k. They they rang back to say that they had had an asking price offer from a cash buyer and it was off the market.
Just so y'all know.
When those figures go up again next month, you can blame the cash buyer, not me...
dude - don't worry. just be patient.
when i was looking i had a top 3 of houses in order of preference.
we put ridiculous offers on all 3 - whoever bit sold their house.
only one of the three accepted our offer.
patience is the key - look at as many houses as you can...0 -
Wise words chucky - as some one who is in the process of buying, the market is really busy at the moment with anything decent going really quickly and prices rising almost by the day !
Stick with it - what will be will be.0 -

Things are moving yes, but not everything decent, not even everything decent and well priced. An example would be a £1.2 million propery we've seen thts been on since 2007. I understood from the agents a couple of months ao there was some serious interest, but, its still on the mrket.
Its on our shortlist if its still on the market next year: something when it went on the short list we thought totally improbable. In fcat, I think its still unlikely: it must be holding up to valuation from ortgagers, because comparitively it is extremely, extremely well priced.0
