tax after br

hiya
i spoke to the National Debt Helpline and the lady i spoke to said after being declared BR you don't pay tax for a year. I asked if this went to the OR she said no, you kept it. HOWEVER i have just read on here it goes to Moon Beever - can anyone help clear this up?

thanks ! x

    National Debt Line were wrong.

You will get a NT tax code for the reminder of the tax year (to 5th April) and won't pay tax on your employment. You will therefore receive what you would normally pay in tax in your salary and this amount gets paid over to Moonbeever.

No confused you don't keep it, It's paid into your account which you then have to pay to Moon Beever a solicitor I believe, just dealing with this for DH

    Hi confused :)
I've been issued with a Nil Tax code IPA which means for the rest of this tax year no tax will be deducted from my earnings. This money is not mine, I have to make arrangements for it to be paid to Moon Beever, the agents who will collect it on behalf of my OR. The Nil Tax code will be withdrawn from April 2010, although I do have to advise HMRC if I change jobs before then.
When a bankrupt remains in the same employment they were in at the date of the bankruptcy order, the tax liability for the whole year of bankruptcy is not his/her own, but that of the appointed trustee in bankruptcy. The Revenue can then lodge a proof of debt for the whole of that year. As the tax becomes a debt in bankruptcy, the revenue is unable to use the PAYE system to obtain payment when other creditors are not able to take action to collect their debt.

    Hope that helps somewhat :)

Me too Holes & to add even more to the confusion I've just had an over payment at work plus a (weeny!) payrise
Informed my IS case officer & he said not to worry about it, too miniscule an increase to administrate :o

Hmm mooning beever can sometimes be a little slow...although the OR can chase them up as its in their best interests (the OR's pay moonbeever to admin IPA's)
