Hi I have my interview and just starting to worry about explaining my spending!! Financially thought I was ok until last month so have always paid bills. My ex has forced me into bankruptcy because of his poor money management skills, my worry is that I have £2000 owed to Next (clothing) I have always paid big chunks off this but have spent on the account up until last month which wont look great but didnt no this was going to happen! I did return everything ordered when it all came to light. The clothes are for work mainly and my daughter but not sure how the OR will view this?
I also bought a cello 5 months ago for £350 not sure if ill be able to keep it? Anyone had similar things with catalogues just worried i might get BRO if its considered reckless spending!

Yes I owed money to Next too. Try not to panic. From all my reading, you would have had to seriously spend ALOT of money on villas in spain, holidays to the carribbean etc with a good idea you may end up going BR to get a BRU/BRO for reckless spending. What you've described is what alot of people do BR-use credit to buy the necessities.
With regards to the cello, £350 is a small amount of money. I was advised not to mention assets of this kind of money, as the OR would have no interest in them (all the hassle of selling them on, transport costs etc make it not worth their while).
Please try not to worry-remember that BRU/BROs are very rare.

Hi Marmalady, have a look on this link from the insolvency service (click on the map). It will put it into perspective the things that would get a BRO/U and i think you will find that you are not in the same league.
