what happens now? do i tell them but continue to look for a job?
i just can't see anyone taking me on. i know they can't discrimiate but once i start showing they are going to know and it will put them off. and im really worried what will happen once the baby arrives

You don't need to tell them if you're only just pregnant.
Being on JSA is not about the likelihood of getting a job just that you are doing all you can get to get one, as long as you are actively seeking and applying for jobs then you are still entitled to your JSA."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Great time to be preggers. Jobless and relying on the state to pay for you. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

If you are on your own then once you get to 29 weeks you can stop your JSA claim and put one in for Income Support. This is paid at exactly the same rate as JSA but you won't have to search for work, it is optional.0 -

If it helps we hired an admin girl at about 6 months (and looking hugely pregnant) - our reasoning we have a huge turnover of support staff who b*gger off to move in with a fella up-north, "go travelling", she desperately wanted the job, made it clear afterwards she'd be back had a kid to support and would be staying.... maternity pay doesn't hit the budget and when she rocked up after 6months off she's stayed put for 8 years....0 -
Perhaps she didn't know she'd be made redundant, perhaps she was secure and had a !!!!less hubby who has evaporated, perhaps conctraception failed, who knows - perhaps you should slap some african famine victims for having sex not predicting the rains would fail.... Obviously it isn't a great time but assuming she's a JK contestant determined to milk the system is a bit rude. Recently a girl posted worried the employer offering a new job didn't realise got flamed for ripping them off, the deceipt - turned out they had notice the obvious bump and didn't give a damn..... someone with ties who needs to have an income, wants to stay locally, willing to do the mundane to support family can be an attractive long term prospect for an employer.borders_dude wrote: »Great time to be preggers. They're not going to know, they may suspect but they can't ask. You could be obese / have a medical condition / not wear your clothes well.
And some people don't know they're pregnant for months; even at 4 months, my pregnancy tests were all negative.
I digress. Be honest and upfront as when they do find out eventually, they'll wonder what else you're hiding. I hope you dont take this as a pop at you, just trying to help. Congratulations and good luck anyway.0 -
thanks for your advice.
also it was redundancy. the pregnancy wasn't planned and i don't think i go through an abortion. i have applied for about 30 jobs in the last mth and have a temp xmas job that i start in 2 wks which expires beginning of jan. but i imagine i will have go back on jsa once this contract expires. the is the first time that me or my family have claimed any type of benefit.0 -
thanks flickering ember. x some people can be so judgemental. yeah i may not have given the full story - but some people always expect the worst0
